Conservation Agriculture Planning Grant Program

Conserving natural resources is fundamental to sustaining the productivity and resilience of agricultural land. Recognizing this, the Coastal San Luis Resource Conservation District (CSLRCD) joined the Conservation Agriculture Planning Grants Program (CAPGP) from 2023 to 2026, with support from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). The program supported the development of conservation plans, which assisted agricultural producers in adopting sustainable, climate-smart practices.

As a participating organization, CSLRCD worked directly with farmers and ranchers to develop customized plans tailored to the unique needs of their operations and local resource concerns. These plans focused on a variety of conservation priorities, including:

A panoramic landscape with grassy hills, scattered wildflowers, a road, and a distant view of mountains and a small settlement.
  • Soil Health Management
  • Fish and Wildlife Habitat
  • Pollinator Habitat
  • Carbon Farming

Over the course of this program, 27 plans were developed, engaging producers with over 22 different conservation practices. Demonstrating local commitment to land conservation and stewardship, CSLRCD continues to collaborate with local producers, offering technical assistance and funding support to help them achieve their conservation goals.
